How I found WRAY
My partner Peter and I moved to the Whitsundays to start a joy flight business in late 2006. I met someone from WRAY at a Christmas party who told me about a job in sales and within a few weeks I was working at WRAY.
My secret skill
A love of people and a keen sense of adventure which I can happily combine in my role at WRAY.
Best Whitsunday experience
Watching the sun come up at 5.30am at Whitehaven Beach one November day. The water was flat calm, with not a breath of wind, and the sky was just spectacular.
WRAY sales rep Lynne Robinson has a window seat to one of the world’s most stunning locations – the perfect spot from which to help potential charterers plan a Whitsundays holiday on a WRAY vessel.
Lynne spent most of her working life in office administration until taking up her sales position in early 2007 and she’s right at home selling the WRAY experience.
“I grew up in Sydney and spent time when I was young sailing with my father around Sydney Harbour and Pittwater and I’ve learnt more about boats since working here. We’re in such a niche market and we have a great product, so it’s a pleasure to sell it,” Lynne says.
“I’ve had the chance to sail some of the boats in the WRAY fleet and I particularly love the big, bright, open spaces of the sailing catamarans which are so steady and calm – and easy to operate. “
Lynne has never lived too far from the water and is in, or on, the water at every opportunity.
“I spent 13 years living in Los Angeles before circumstances brought me back to Sydney in 1994, then Perth for five years, the Gold Coast for five years and now the Whitsundays.
“There’s nothing quite like Whitehaven Beach anywhere in the world. Hook Passage is a beautiful location too and snorkeling at Butterfly Bay with its incredible fish life, coral and quiet bays and inlets is something really special.
“A Whitsundays sailing holiday is one of the best types of family holidays because everyone is on board together with no distractions other than the scenery! Everyone swims together, snorkels together and eats together and that’s what family holidays are all about.”
And as for the joy flight business which originally took her to the Whitsundays? Lynne and partner Peter Hearnshaw own Whitsunday Tiger Moth Adventures, offering aerobatic and scenic tours of the islands and Airlie Beach.
Charterer’s tip
Don’t over-plan your Whitsundays holiday as the tide and wind might change things. Just put everything aside, relax, go with the flow and enjoy the experience.
