Learn to Sail with Whitsunday Sailing School

Introduction to Bareboating - conducted on your own charter vessel or a vessel provided by the school. A one day course that provides a basic overview of sailing and general navigation around the Whitsunday Islands and includes sailing fundamentals such as basic termonology, sailing theory and sail handling, safety equipment and procedures. Plus basic navigation, radio schedule and dinghy handling. Anchoring/mooring techniques and emergency procedures. These sailing lessons are an excellent way of familiarising yourself with the Whitsundays and becoming acustom to sailing your own vessel.

SAILING SCHOOL
We offer sailing courses in a safe and fun environment. Learn the art of sailing from Sorrento aboard a Bavaria 32. Sorrento is on the Mornington Peninsula, 1.5 hours from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Comprehensive course materials are provided, including Log Book, Recreational Boating Handbook and the DVD Boat Smart from the Start Maximum 5 students per course
COMPETENT CREW COURSE - $495
The two day Competent Crew Course gives you a comprehensive syllabus
and enough time to 'lock in' all you learn
A light lunch is included on Day One and we usually go ashore at Queenscliff
on Day Two
The theory component takes about 5 hours and is conducted on board.
The other 3 hours of Day 1 and all of Day 2 are applied to practical sailing
The course suits experienced sailors who want structured training in the aspects of sailing that can be missed when learning only from experience
It is like an experienced golfer going to a pro for a few lessons and it is surprising what can be learnt. It also suits newcomers to sailing from beginners age 10
These courses give you confidence on the water and include knowledge of all sea terms, sail handling, rope work, fire precautions, personal safety, man overboard, flares, rules of the road, meteorology, helmsmanship, engines, plus docking, anchoring, tides and currents, basic navigation and radio
Learn skills that will enable you to join a race crew with confidence and to skipper your own charter yacht in the Whitsundays or any where in the world
LADIES COURSES
The course is suitable for ladies. Learn to sail without getting yelled at, practise man overboard so you can go back to pick him up. Bring along your friends for a girls weekend of fun and enlightenment!
